A backyard pond is a feature that can transform your property almost overnight. By adding a pond, you’ll create a natural focal point around which you can base the rest of your design. Also, the pond is likely to attract wildlife, offer that peaceful running water sound that so many people love, and much more.
Unfortunately, some homeowners in the Jackson area avoid taking on this project because of the challenge it presents. While building a great pond can be difficult, it’s far from impossible – and TLC can help. Feel free to get in touch today and our team will be happy to discuss this project with you.
Once you have decided you want to add a pond to your backyard, the last thing you want to do is simply grab a shovel, put on your shoes, and start digging. This is the kind of project that requires careful planning before you move any earth. As a starting point, think about the design of your pond and what you want to accomplish with the project. The specifics of the design are up to you, of course, but keep these points in mind –
With your design ideas coming together, you will also want to think about the practical side of what you need to make a pond project work.
Every pond project is a little different, but there are some similarities that connect nearly all of them. As a starting point, you need to dig a hole. Depending on the topography in the area, you might only need to dig a little – or you might need to dig out the whole thing from scratch. Digging is hard work, so be sure to plan plenty of time for this step.
With that step complete, put the pond liner in place to contain the water properly. Don’t measure the hole and cut the liner to match. Instead, give yourself several feet of extra material on each side, so you can work the liner into all the little nooks and crannies in the bottom of the hole. You can always trim away excess liner later once you have a good fit.
When the liner is in place, test it out by adding some water and checking for any leaks. This is when you’ll get your pump in place and complete the design around the pond by adding rocks, plants, and any other finishing touches.
If you think a backyard pond could do the job of taking your property to the next level, stop putting it off and get started right away with our water landscaping. There is no reason to be intimidated by this task when you can put a talented and experienced team like TLC on your side. We hope to hear from you today!
